Bridal Hair can be a tricky thing as hair UP can easily look old fashioned and dated but anything simple works very well. Add texture and keep it a little bit undone. The 40's is very much in at the moment (check Keira Knightly in Atonement) Which means wavy shiny hair.

If you want to grow your hair and it seems in fairly good condition then don't go near a hairdressers for as long as possible. A weekly treatment would be a good idea, and if your a straightener junkie then try and go cold turkey for a while and maybe only use heated irons twice a week have your hair cut/trimmed into shape 2 weeks before the wedding and maybe coloured about a week before (depending on the colour as red colours fade much faster than blondes).
Tear out pictures from magazines and take to your hairdressers so the stylist has a good idea of what you expect. Then practice the styles a couple of weeks before so you know which one you want.

Face shapes don't really come into it, but it's a good idea to try out you hair style with the dress on or at least some thing that has a similar neck line and style to the dress your wearing.
A good hairdresser should be able to make a hair style work on any face shape, it's just a case of tweaking with the style until it suits you (ie a traditional french pleat might not suit you but with a soft fringe or done loosely with a wave in the hair might look perfect!)

Look to the red carpet and fashion catwalks for inspiration.
